More about me

I’m genuinely surprised you’ve come to read more and I hate writing about myself so here goes nothing haha. My name is Joel and I have been a wedding videographer for over 8 years, and full time for the past 3 years.

My passion for videography started at a very young age, watching my opa filming every family Christmas together. I photographed my first ever wedding in 2013, and soon after realised that wedding filmmaking was my passion.

Outside of my full-time job as a wedding filmmaker, I’m all about anything and everything creative, whether that’s painting, gardening, interior design, cooking or creating new cocktails. I’m a furniture maker by trade, as well as having an interior design degree, so I love spending time designing and crafting unique pieces of furniture.

My film style can be best described as natural, warm with a side of modern funk. I like to push the boundaries of what is considered “standard” in the film industry, and create films that reflect the true you. Most of that comes down to how I like to shoot on the day. My goal is to create a stress-free environment of trust and fun so you don’t feel awkward about having a camera pointed at you all day. Whether that’s by me telling way too many dad jokes, or playing Shakira and busting out some dance moves during your portrait session. I feel this really helps let your true personality come out and makes your film more authentic. I want to capture genuine emotions and interactions, and not manufacture fake moments. After all, it’s your wedding day and I’m just here to capture the magic of every moment.

While I’m known to cut some shapes on the dance floor, I’m not particularly good at it. I get points for effort, not skill, But I can be convinced to bust out my Magic Mike impression if you ask nicely. I wear stretchy Lululemon’s for a reason.

I don’t know what else to say here apart from let’s have some f***ing fun and I’ll see you on the dance floor!

While this shouldn’t have to be said, I’m going to say it anyway (my life’s catchphrase):
I am more than happy to work with anyone of any race, religion, sexual orientation, gender or culture. Love is love at the end of the day and we all deserve to get married to whoever we want regardless. If there is anything that I need to know to show respect to you and your family and friends on your special day, please don’t hesitate to let me know.

Love ya,
Joel xx
